IS CHINA HEALTHY?

Welcome to another video from Gweilo 6.

They've got all of these things that they'er doing to try to hit that pollution porblem and beat it down. A country of 1.4 billion people, it's hard. You know it's one of those things that you're growing your industry, you've got manufacturing, you've got all of these things, you gotta have electricity.

Another thing I understand with the Chinese people is they like to take care of themselves. They got a problem, they run to the doctor, and that's a good thing, because it's very inexpensive here. They're more concerned about their health, while being a westerner, it's basically being like, don't worry about it'll be fine, they sort of laze out. But the Chinese are very quick if they've got a problem to go seek medical expertise, so they catch things earlier, they're more on top of things than people in the west.

So, they eat better, they exercise more, they have more active lives, they drink less... They're just basically healthier people. And you can see because I think I read it here the other day that they have a highter lifespan than Americans now, so they live longer because of the lifestyle that they live.

This place is one of those places that people are healthy, people are happy, people are content. They exercise, they have active lives, they have a good life. All of these things, just make China a nice place because if you got a bunch of people that are healthy and active, it adds to the aura of the place, makes it a funner place to be. And that's basically why I like it here, because China is a fun place to be.

@Happy ClamGuy somehow i think is is mainly Because people from us and canada don't care about being fat. You know, the freedom to be fat and no worry.

@Happy ClamGuy,

It's Destiny
China love hamburger!

tintin snowy
just look at the cloth size in China. XXL is the biggest u go up even L is considered big. but in the West u get XXXXL as max size. XXL is common

Axe pro
Yup i ordered my clothes from china and now I realize that how fat i am : ) which makes me starting go on diet and lose some weight.

Alex Absolute
Lmao “gweilo 6 - searching for a fat person”. But yeah agreed they do take health seriously there. Just wish there was less smoking

Hassan
Cigarette is China's big part of revenue. And less young people smoke now

Ecrush
This!!... Smoking in public (in China) is the real problem (for me...)

Alex Absolute
@Ecrush yeah unfortunately, but I think as China develops it'll get better

Ecrush
@Alex Absolute I certainly hope so.... but, u can say i am little ( well not so "little" THB :D ) disappointed by Chinese govt response to address this problem.
( amidst this covid things )... IMO they should step up their game on total respiratory health law reform.

BC A
Yes,its pretty like America in 195s ,most young people smoking,Its really hard to quit

No perfect world bro, life is sort , we need enjoy life

shera shera

king hu
In China, most older people smoke. Only very few young people smoke. And smoking is prohibited in elevators and other places. Only some unethical people do not follow the rules.

All 3 points can be seen in East Asian countries, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan. Bad habits in those highly competitive societies. Singapore is the best, but it can be a bit boring after a while. I guess there is no perfect.

Don-Rico da Silva
Pollution. Even in the last 3 yrs in Beijing we have noticed a marked improvement in the levels of pollution. They definitely working hard at it!

Don-Rico da Silva
it was never that bad as I expected before I went there

Alibaba Aluba
Gweilo I am a skinny Chinese guy turned into a fat ass after ten years in Canada. I feel I am the opposite of your experience. Not saying you were a fat ass when you were in Canada though lol.

IvankikiTV
@Alibaba Aluba so your blaming Canada? There’s many healthy places and meals one can self cook. But no Gweilo has to make the west look like fat asses and everyone in China is healthy lol

@Alibaba Aluba,

Tony L
@IvankikiTV Actually, it's the USDA that introduced their high carbohydrates Food Pyramid and vegetable oil guidelines, and the rest of the world quickly followed their lead and have been getting sicker with each passing year, population wise, worldwide.

Yuan Gao
I am Chinese. Gweilo 6, a fat thank you for loving China so much. Since you are a foreigner living here, I regret to say you do not know things here quite well. Some are so busy working that they have no time to have fun or work out. Students compete aggressively for better schools or colleges and they seldom do sports. Some poor peasants cannot afford to see a doctor. Some places are polluted. I cannot say Chinese are healthier than Westerners.

Anshan Today
This is a topic that including many aspects, apparently you two look at this in a different view based on your own experience. , both are right, in America, there are lot of poor people can not afford to see doctors too.

Jordan In China
for sure China is very healthy! not all but on average i would say more than the west from what i
have seen here in shenzhen

Thomason Kennedy
Most Chinese maintains a thin and active lifestyle that includes drinking plenty of green tea and exercise. Gweilo you're always in great shape too. Cheers!

waldenlaker
Gweilo, talking about environment protection, do you know the plantation thing in Alipay? If you don't know, ask Weifang about it. Then talk to Alibaba, see if they want to sponsor you to do a video about it. The plantation charity thing in Alipay is the greatest plantation/environment charity in the world history. Western world never knew it.

Christian Manley
As a foreigner who just got back to the US after 4 years in different Chinese cities, I agree with some of this, but a lot of what you're saying is a little wrong. First, let's not forget the pollution. My breathing and simple ability to sing has improved in the past few months. Sorry, it's just a fact. Second, China eats more meat than other countries. Third, a lot of Chinese food is very oily or spicy and it did make me need to go to the hospital a few times. Fourth, when people order food at restaurants in China, there is far more waste than in Europe or the USA. Sure, the USA wastes because of giant portions, but Chinese restaurants have customers order too many dishes and then people leave the table with loads of leftover food. Plus, it is considered low class to ask for the food to be boxed. It just doesn't happen as much in China. Fifth, people work 7 day weeks and often get no chance to walk around or exercise. That is a luxury for you as a foreigner in China or for the middle class. People in tech jobs need to follow a 996 lifestyle with people dying or getting sick from that awful lifestyle. Of course, Americans waste their free time inside, but I think for the younger generation this is different. More people care about exercising and health compared with their parents. Both China and the USA need to work on letting more people have time off like Europe. This all being said, I do think a lot of Chinese people are more content and I actually think politics not being so heavily in their lives is one reason for that.

China is very healthy! The lifestyle there makes you live a healthy life. From walking in the city to eating healthy food. It's fantastic.

Jim Hu
In China I find myself out and about (walking) more in China than United States. Shenzhen is removing and replacing all diesel buses, taxies and trucks with electrical vehicles

As talking about the health of chinese people.
There is a interesting thing.
Maybe someone has found a very strange habit of Chinese people: drinking hot water .
Where you see the Chinese tourists ,where you see the vacuum cup filled with hot water.
In fact , before 7 years ago ,Chinese people always drunk cold water which was not so clean and caused a lot of pandemics.
At that time ,the average life of a man was 39 .
From 195 ,CCP tried it best to persuade people to drink boiled water, using a lot of methods such as if all the members of a family kept drinking boiled water for one year , this family would be awarded some money.
The average life of a man was quickly increased to 73 .
In 199s , most Chinese people have the clean water to drink ,but after two generations' encouraging ,drinking hot water has been a living habit of common Chinese people and couldnot be changed back .
