BoleenAlaska
If you take credit for the rain, expect blame for the drought

poop_frog
lol, the non-stock market economy is dead right now too...

The_Balding_FraudVermont
He''''''''s going to drop below Bush''''''''s stock market performance soon

T1mac
Funny how President Obama dug us out of the Great Recession and had the Ebola, H1N1 flu, and Hurricane Sandy and never crashed the stock market.

Wtfuckfuck
and the next democrat will claw us back again. it''''''''s a story as old as this country.

BatMatt93
To be fair, Ebola had nowhere near the amount of cases in the US as COVID-19 does.

shaelrotman
Also, to be fair, those viruses were also at a time when the US had a funded pandemic response team

Twokindsofpeople
Ebola, H1N1 flu,
These aren''''''''t even half way comparable. Trump is a fuck up, but Obama didn''''''''t have anything close to this to deal with. I have no faith in the republican response to rebuilding, but this isn''''''''t your run of the mill pandemic scare. It''''''''s an actual pandemic.

Gr8WallofChinatown
He implemented Quantitative easing and bailed out the banks who were supposed to be too big to fail.
Instead the banks became even bigger.
This is Obama’s fault too. He didn’t fix shit, he masked it

OrangutanMan234
Don’t even feel like looking at how much money I lost.

Elmntly
I hate, and know, this feeling intimately.

OrangutanMan234
Last time I checked I just cracked 100k in my retirement fund. I was so happy. That was before all this. I’m just hoping I didn’t lose everything I put in last year.

engels_was_a_racist
Guns are bad. Choke it out.

raouldukesaccomplice
Throw it out the window.

Raspberries-Are-Evil
at how much money I lost.
You only lose if you sell. In 3 years, you''''''''ll be glad you left it alone.

Arizona_Pete
My brokerage account is tied to my bank account (Merril / BofA). Every time I log in, I die a little inside.
Thankfully, my 401k is through someone else so I can ostrich that stuff all day long.

xenoguy1313
Yeah, I''''''''m about to dexe the vanguard app for a year or so. At 33, there is no need to look at it.

xenoguy1313
Focus on what is in need of attention now. Family, friends, health, positive mental attitude.

HighFiv-e
34 here. Thank you for helping with my anxiety.

PositiveVibes1980
yeah - this is going to turn into a complete shit show and be bad and worse for months

NeapolaAmerica
20%???
You seem surprised.
Jot down a list of everything that is closing and then think about all of the people who work at those businesses or get paid to do those services. Bars, restaurants, stores, factories, libraries, schools, day care centers... then think about all of the businesses that depend on THOSE businesses in one way or another.
Next, imagine if this goes on for two months. Or three months. Or longer.
20% unemployment seems like a low estimate if you ask me.

“20%???”

SolomonBlackConnecticut
Yeah airplanes are grounded, factories are shuttered, offices are locked up, restaurants are closed, stores are empty, sports are cancelled, entertainment production is delayed, tourism is shut down, and people need to save whatever money they have left to wipe their asses with because it''''''''s cheaper then toilet paper.
Even if the pandemic ended tomorrow demand and spending in the economy will take major hits, some industries can already basically write off the year. While say supply chain disruptions can ripple through the global economy for months to come. Sooner or later that adds up to massive lay offs because even at the shittiest of wages paying people is one of the biggest costs companies have any sort of control over.
And we don''''''''t know that America and the EU are at their peak yet.

BaconAllDay2
That''''''''s Great Depression numbers right there

FormerlyLiarah
I think it’s larger than Great Depression numbers. Hold on, let me check.
Edit: 25% of the workforce was out of work in 1933.

AJDx14California
So if this goes on longer we might hit depression numbers?

AceMcVeer
20% is the start. If this goes on longer it''''''''s going to be worse. My whole state is shut down. I know many people laid off already. Right away it''''''''s going to be the people that can''''''''t immediately work. People in retail, travel, restaurants, bars, entertainment are the ones now. Then come the ones that relate. No bars open means the brewery shuts down. Brewery workers, delivery drivers, farmers, all take a hit or are gone.

No_volvere
lol what''''''''s even the point of capitalism? An economy that climbs and then fucking nosedives every decade is hardly a functioning system.

enad58
It only hurts you and me. It''''''''s a 30% off sale for the ruling class.

oiuvnp
We''''''''ll see how this all turns out but if he gives everyone a thousand bucks or more, you can almost guarantee he will get reelected.

TheAmazingThanos
Idk, he still handled this virus abysmally, and the stock market is down the drain. 1000 probably won''''''''t be enough though. Who knows what''''''''ll happen since the federal government hasn''''''''t passed much of anything.

pm_your_gay_thoughts
Thank you for this chronology of his delusional insanity on public display.

Hooch_Pandersnatch
If I post this on Facebook my Republican friends will say I made these quotes up and claim Trump never said these lol.

Ghoulius-Caesar
In that case, you can show them this montage that shows how much Trump has pivoted. Of course your Republican friends will say it’s a deep fake, but it just shows them getting more and more desperate for excuses.

Day_Dreamer
Oh man, this is a great collection of clips!!
Short, easy to digest. Will be showing my R family/friends. :) Thanks!

Bla_bla_boobsMichigan
Stock market always crashes under Republicans
The trend is still unbroken

wendylou14
The Dow may have lost all of its gains BUT Trump''''s profits continue to soar during his grifter presidency.

suckZEN
there''''s a silver lining for conservatives, they can just blame the virus for the crash and ignore their reckless inflation of the true value of the market with stock buybacks paid for by tax payers
They will blame China and it''''ll work. So much of the country has been brain washed by fox news.

IThinkThingsNew Jersey
While the stock market is not THE measure of economic growth, it certainly is A reflection on economic growth and expectations.
What we are seeing is a severe lack of optimism in the economies growth capabilities - and rightfully so. Production is severely impacted in China, small medium and large businesses are heavily having their businesses impeded by government restrictions to prevent virus spread.
That being said, the Trump Administration earlier in the Presidency foolishly decided to enact the fiscal and monetary policies used to combat a contractionary economy during an expansionary economy. So what happens when the economy gets pushed off a cliff due to a global pandemic? What happens is the tools to fight economic contraction were already used. The ammo is gone and now we have to prepare for the absolute worst. That is what the Trump Presidency is to blame for.

Loki-Don
America, Trumps 7th official bankruptcy.
