Beijing, China (CNN) -- Jonathon Levine was a fiercely ambitious 25-year-old with a Masters degree -- but stuck in a dead end job.

This is not how it was meant to be for a boy raised in New York City, nourished on the American dream that hard work and a good education would bring rewards and riches.

So what did he do? He left.

After researching job vacancies abroad, an opportunity in reclusive North Korea grabbed his attention. Deciding his ambitions didn't stretch that far, Levine settled on a teaching job at Beijing's Tsinghua University instead.

"In the (United) States everyone is so mopey -- it is the end of the world, no jobs, and income inequality is through the roof. We're back to the gilded age in the U.S," he said.

He is part of a new generation waking up to a new reality. America is no longer the land of opportunity. China is.

While people like Levine get it, U.S. politicians seem bent on casting China as the bad guy. Beijing is accused of keeping its currency low to win an export advantage and steal American jobs.

After a softly-softly approach at the beginning of his administration, Obama has switched tack.

He's pivoted U.S. geostrategic policy towards Asia after a decade of war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Many China watchers have couched this as an attempt to block the emerging super power's rise. China's Foreign Ministry has said U.S politicians need to treat China fairly and that in the interests of security the relationship needs to be based on trust.

Ahead of a visit to Asia by U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton last month, an editorial in the state-run Chinese Global Times newspaper claimed "many Chinese people dislike Hillary Clinton.

One of the sources of this hostility has been Washington's perceived interference in maritime disputes with China's neighbors in the region. During her recent visit, Clinton urged those involved in the various territorial disputes to "begin to engage in a diplomatic process toward the shared goal of a code of conduct."

He says it is misguided to fear China.

"It's not like going to the moon, like it might have been a hundred years ago because communication links us much closer together."

Get used to it China. Back in the 80s, Japan was blamed for all of America's problems. Now it is China's turn to be the blame for everything. Get used to it. That is Americanism.

China doesn't get blamed for Everything. But America blames Everybody.
1. Blame China for currency manipulation while doing her own in the form of "quantitative easing"
2. Blame terrorists while failing to see the terror inflicting upon the tens of thousands of Afghans and Pakistanis through their drone attacks that killed disproportionately more innocents than the handful of "terror suspects".
3. Blame Julian Assange for endangering the lives of those in combat while covering up the gross human rights violations in Afghanistan. How about the trial of Sergeant Robert Bales who went on a shooting rampage killing 16 Afghan civilians?
4. Blame Iran for their nuclear ambitions while turning a blind eye to the stockpile of nuclear arms of their closest ally and the total lockdown of the Gaza strip.
That's right get used to it. And get used to the avalanche of hate coming my post, courtesy of America.

Wrong. China is not Japan and will never be. China is a one party state and there is no freedom of speech. Its true that Japan copied whatever we created and made it better but the show ends here. Japan is far ahead in robotics and in many other fields too. The Japanese Yen has soared compared to China's Yuan and I will agree that China is a currency manipulator and has taken advantage of the American free market. China presently is encouraging its domestic market so not many foreign firms can get a foothold over there except for education specifically the English language which they are keen to master.

shinjukuboy, what are you smoking? Japan was not blamed for America's problems in the 80's. If you knew anything about the global economy, you would see how artificially suppressing your currency allows you to produce goods at lower prices and take jobs from other areas of the world. The Chinese government has done so at the cost of its own people, and continues to suppress their basic human rights. This is not blaming China for our problems, but recognizing that we have made a deal with the devil and there is a price for that.

Shinjukuboy, you got it right. I remember Japan bashing really well. Well, Japan copied everything including supercomputer designs back in the 80s. Anyway, this is to be expected. The declining power always puts up a fight.

Only one thing can save US, “Made in USA”. But that is not easy. USA is getting isolated from rest of world for its image ‘a country made by Christian for the Christian’. China is open for all. World wants USA as a cosmopolitan nation. Alas who listen!

once the USA DOLLAR not in NO.1 position, then we can see what will happen in USA. :) or maybe USA can start another war and bury themselves

what.... China should take partial blame. Most Americans are just too dum* to know why. You know why solyndra went bankrupt. Its because China engages in curacy manipulation and price dumping. If you dumm!es don't fight soon enough you will be just like this kid. You'll have to leave your family behind and go to another country for a job! Sounds fun i cant wait.....

什么。。。 。。。。

The English has a very delicious way of putting it that 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating'. China has always been regarded as mysterious and mystifying and the Chinese mendacious and boisterous.
However over the millenniums, the typical Chinese is taught to be conversant with the arts and the classics, filial, dutiful and respectful. To be self effacing and humble about one's achievements is considered to be the height of culture.
Misgivings arise when the Oriental crosses path with the Occidental in a meeting of cultures. To add further to the confusion, differences in political persuasions help to widen the gulf of misinformation and mis-perception.
Perhaps it would be better for the world if China were to focus on putting its own house in order and be less concerned with political barbs and electoral threats. The day will come when the world will realise that they have...

@Fat Milhouse SeanNo, it isn't. What destroyed Japan was being forced to sign the Plaza accord at gun point.

@Fat Milhouse SeanNo,

Listen to China. It seldom says anything when bashed and punched like sandbag. But China is working hard with its leaders smarter than Bush and Obama and Romney combined.
Shame on you debt-ridden America, you lost all face for democracy, while only powerful thing you could still master is military.

Unfortunately "THE-BEST-COUNTRY-IN-THE-WORLD" cannot face reality - Instead of focusing on fixing their dying economy they love to play GOD to the world and unless they benefit, it is wrong.
Their politicians use the famous phrase....."WE BELIEVE, BLAH BLAH BLAH ...FOR THE GOOD OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.." and regardless how incorrect or illogical it is, it is accepted by the public who essentially get their news from 2 minute sound-bites on TV.
Only recently it became known that they entered the Vietnam war on a lie they concocted, then there was WMD in Iraq, ...why? - Take the Cuban situation, why treat them so badly.....have you noticed the weaker the nation the more severe the punishment...is this global policy ....or global bullying?,

What planet are you living on, the Chinese Govt. has used it's seat on the security council to constantly defend it's crooked allies, leading to many thousands of needless deaths.
